Two Jan. 6, 2021 defendants running for U.S. Senate: Report

Two pardoned Jan. 6, 2021 riot defendants are throwing their hats in the ring for U.S. Senate.

About 1,600 individuals were charged for their participation in the Capitol riot on that day.

Trump pardoned the defendants shortly after taking office for the second time.

Derrick Evans, 40, of West Virginia and Jacob Lang, originally from New York and currently living in Florida, are both running for Senate, according to a report on Saturday from The Epoch Times. The outlet reported the two men might also announce congressional runs.

Evans a former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, was the only state legislator who was prosecuted for taking part in the riot. He ultimately pled guilty to a felony civil disorder charge and served three months in federal prison.

Lang, 30, was put in jail without a trial for four years and six days, the outlet reported.
