Vance says that AOC will be leading Democratic candidate for president in 2028: 'Got to be AOC'
Vance said it's "conventional wisdom" that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., will lead the field of Democratic presidential candidates in 2028.
Vice president JD Vance said that he believes Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., will lead the field of Democratic presidential candidates in 2028.
“I think it’s got to be AOC. I know that’s probably conventional wisdom,” Vance said in a wide-ranging interview on the “The Michael Knowles Show” released on Tuesday.
Knowles countered that the conventional wisdom is that California Gov. Gavin Newsom would be the leading Democrat, but Vance said he doesn't "buy that."
"I think he hurt himself with his comment to an audience full of black Americans that I’m low IQ, just like you," Vance said.
Vance was referring to comments Newsom made at an event in Atlanta in February in an attempt to say he related to the audience.
"I'm just trying to impress upon you: I'm like you. I'm no better than you. You know, I'm a 960 SAT guy," Newsom said.
Initial reports claimed Newsom was speaking to a predominantly Black crowd, but subsequent photos and videos from the event revealed a diverse crowd with many whites in the audience.
