Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett filed the paperwork Monday to formally launch her bid for the United States Senate, just hours after previous Democratic frontrunner Colin Allred withdrew his candidacy in favor of running for a House seat.

This comes in the wake of the Supreme Court upholding Texas's newly redrawn congressional maps that eliminated a number of Democratic-leaning seats in the state.

Crockett announced her campaign in a post on X on Monday evening, and she will still face state Rep. James Talarico, who is considered a rising star within the Democratic Party, according to Politico
