The final tallies on the June 2 elections in California will almost certainly not be known until July based on their process of mailing ballots to every eligible voter, plus allowing votes to come in by mail for a week after the election if they were postmarked by election day, and even more time if any mailed-in ballots need to be "cured."

The U.S. attorney for the Central District of California said Friday that his office has "multiple fraud investigations underway" in coordination with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The prosecutor, Bill Essayli, also said in the announcement that he's working with Harmeet Dhillon, U.S. assistant attorney general for the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, to conduct a comprehensive audit of the state's voter rolls.

Essayli didn't comment on any specific investigation, but he said he'd "follow the evidence wherever it leads and prosecute any violations of federal election law to the fullest extent."

As of Friday evening, Xavier Becerra has clinched a spot in the November election for governor against either Tom Steyer or Steve Hilton. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has clinched a spot in the November election against either Spencer Pratt or Nithya Raman.
