Musk vows to form 'America Party' if budget bill passes; Stephen Miller says 'libertarian delusion'
"Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE," Elon Musk said.
While Tesla CEO Elon Musk threatened to start the "America Party" if the GOP budget bill passes, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller appeared to respond by calling the idea a "libertarian delusion."
Musk has been openly critical of the budget reconciliation bill because it increases spending, which led to a feud between him and President Trump last month.
On Monday, Musk posted on X, "If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE."
He also posted on Monday, "Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame. They will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth."
Miller appeared to respond to Musk on Monday without referring to him directly, posting on X, "The libertarian delusion is that there is a large political constituency for their ideology. It does not exist. Libertarians have never performed nationally above a number rounding to zero. And when libertarians run for president within the GOP, they are the first ones out."
The immigration hawk later posted, "Republicans have spent generations promising Americans full, complete and total border security. And now it’s here, in this bill. This chance won’t come again. Now is the moment to fulfill the promise on which the fate of civilization itself depends. Honor the vow we made."
