Biden, Kerry meet with King Charles, investors on potential to pump 'trillions' into green agenda
Charles came under fire last month after making another grandiose claim surrounding irreversible climate destruction.
President Joe Biden in his official overseas trip this week met Monday with United Kingdom King Charles III to discus the potential for getting "trillions of dollars" pumped into his global green energy transition.
Biden was joined in the discussions at Windsor Castle with U.S. climate envoy John Kerry.
The meeting also reportedly included investors and philanthropists, whom Kerry said "represent literally trillions of dollars" of collective money seemingly geared toward green investing.
"Scientists are telling us that they are terrified" by climate change, Kerry said.
He also said those in the meeting "are making decisions every single day about how to accelerate this [green energy] transition."
Kerry described the primary agenda for the meeting as trying to "figure out, 'OK, how do we deploy the funds necessary to invest to create the new clean energy economy?'"
The meeting is part of Biden's three-nation trip to Europe, that will include his participation in a NATO summit in Lithuania.
While overseas, the president also met with U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to discuss a range of issues including climate, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said.
Last month, Charles attended London's Climate Innovation Forum, where he was criticized online after helping launch a "Climate Clock" countdown that gives until 2030 to act to mitigate irreversible climate damage. Over the years, Charles has claimed 18 months, 7 years, and 35 years left to save the planet, seemingly revising his projections as time went on.
