Hassett: Admin to release 'half a jobs report' for October
Hassett further opined that the administration would eventually be able to estimate the jobs figures, but not the unemployment rate.
National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett on Thursday confirmed that the Bureau of Labor Statistics would not be able to publish October unemployment data in its usual fashion, but indicated that the administration would still release what data it had.
“The October employment report for the payroll side will be able to be calculated, but the household survey wasn’t completed,” he said, according to The Hill. “So we’ll get sort of half a jobs report."
Much of the disruption was due to the government shutdown, which lasted more than one month and ended this week.
Hassett further opined that the administration would eventually be able to estimate the jobs figures, but not the unemployment rate.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, earlier this week, hinted that the report would not become public at all.
“The Democrats may have permanently damaged the Federal Statistical system with October CPI and jobs reports likely never being released,” she said.
