Secretary Kennedy considers taking Covid vaccine off CDC-recommended child vaccination list: report
The CDC added the COVID-19 vaccination to its immunization schedule for children in 2023.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is reportedly considering removing the COVID-19 vaccination from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recommended vaccine schedule for children.
The possible change was reported Tuesday by news outlet Politico, based on sources.
HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon told Politico when asked about the matter: “No final decision has been made."
The CDC added the vaccine in 2023 to the schedule, which does not mandate the shot.
States and localities decide which vaccines are required for schools, and all 50 states have medical exemptions for vaccines.
Kennedy has questioned whether children need to get the vaccine, citing that kids are very unlikely to die from the disease.
