Vice President JD Vance will escort Charlie Kirk's body back to Phoenix, Ariz., to return him to his home state.
Kirk was fatally shot during an open-air event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. The hunt for his assassin is ongoing.
Vance plans to transport Kirk's body via Air Force Two to Arizona and will be accompanied by Kirk's widow, Erika, and her children, Politico reported.
Following Kirk's death on Wednesday, Vance posted a lengthy eulogy of Kirk, recalling his support early in his political campaign.
"Long before I ever committed (even in my mind) to running, Charlie had me speak to his donors at a TPUSA event. He walked me around the room and introduced me," he posted. "He gave me honest feedback on my remarks. He had no reason to do this, no expectation that I'd go anywhere. I was polling, at that point, well below 5 percent. He did it because we were friends, and because he was a good man."
