Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., on Friday condemned an effort to push Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to investigate the government of Ireland over a proposed boycott of Israel.

"The United States must send a clear signal that efforts to economically isolate Israel will cary consequences and that U.S. law designed to combat such discrimination will be enforced," a handful of lawmakers wrote to Bessent this week.

"What is happening??? America’s economic power and success should not be used as a blunt force weapon against other countries on behalf of Israel’s economy," Greene posted on X.

"And I’m a big supporter of Secretary Bessent as he is working hard to level the playing field for AMERICA, but Congress who is overwhelmingly controlled by multiple foreign governments especially the secular government of Israel is fighting for Israel first!" she continued.

Greene has increasingly criticized Israel and efforts by the U.S. government to aid that country amid what she has called a "genocide" in Gaza. Greene has asserted that she is "America First" and increasingly expressed frustration that her colleague's support for Israel often seems to place the interests of that nation above those of their own constituents.
