Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown leading potential GOP 2024 opponents in Ohio poll

Incumbent Ohio Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown beat potential Republican opponents in a hypothetical 2024 U.S. Senate election, according to a new poll.

Republican state Sen. Matt Dolan comes the closest to beating Brown but still trails behind at 38% to 41%, according to a poll released last week by Emerson College. However, Dolan is still within the poll's 3% margin of error, so he may be closer to tying with Brown than it seems at first glance.

Additionally, when Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is placed against Brown, the Democratic senator beats him 41% to 36%. Meanwhile, Ohio Republican businessman Bernie Moreno fares the worst against Brown, with 32% to Brown's 42%. 

This is a significant change from October, when Dolan and LaRose both beat Brown in another Emerson poll. 

The Ohio Republican Senate primary also does not have a clear frontrunner yet, as 54% of Ohio Republican Senate primary voters are undecided or plan to vote for someone who has not made it on the ballot yet. Meanwhile, 18% support LaRose, 15% support Dolan, 10% support Moreno, per the poll.

This poll was conducted Nov. 10-13, with 1,000 registered voters.

Most other polls aggregated by FiveThirtyEight also show Brown ahead.
