Arizona Dem Gov Hobbs tied with GOP's Biggs in possible general election matchup: poll
Emerson College Polling Executive Director Spencer Kimball says Congressman Biggs is the "early favorite" for the Republican nomination.
Democratic Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs is tied with her GOP challengers in the state's gubernatorial race, according to a new poll.
Hobbs is essentially tied with two of her Republican challengers in a potential general election, an Emerson College Polling survey released on Friday shows, The Hill news outlet reported.
In a general election match-up between Hobbs and developer Karrin Taylor Robson, the governor gets 43% of the vote while the Republican gets 42%, which is within the 3.3-point margin of error. Nearly 15% of voters are undecided.
Between Hobbs and Rep. Andy Biggs, the former receives 44% while Biggs wins 43%, with about 13% undecided.
Hobbs receives 44% against Rep. David Schweikert's 40%, and 16% are undecided.
Between the Republicans, Biggs receives 50% support from GOP primary voters, while Taylor Robson gets 17%, and Schweikert receives 8%. Almost 25% say they are undecided.
“Heading into 2026, Rep. Biggs is the early favorite for the Republican Nomination for Governor,” Emerson College Polling Executive Director Spencer Kimball said in a statement. “Biggs holds 59% support among voters over 60 and 51% among those who backed Trump in 2024.”
Hobbs is running for reelection after winning against Kari Lake, senior adviser for the U.S. Agency for Global Media, in 2022. Last year, President Trump won Arizona by nearly 6 points.
The president has endorsed both Taylor Robson and Biggs in the GOP primary.
The Emerson College Polling survey was conducted between Nov. 8 and Nov. 10, polling 850 active registered voters. The margin of error is +/- 3.3 percentage points. A total of 381 Republican primary voters were surveyed in the poll, with a margin of error of +/- 5 percentage points.
