Majority of Americans believe US needs more 'Economic Populism:' Poll
The poll found that 58% of respondents believe that America needs more economic populism, including 32% who strongly agree, while 27% of respondents disagree, including 13% who strongly disagree
The majority of Americans who responded to a Rasmussen poll that was published Tuesday said they believe the United States needs more economic populism, and nearly half of respondents said Democrats are the party of economic populism.
Economic populism is a political and economic belief that emphasizes growth and income distribution by promoting the interests of the "common people," instead of the interests of the "elites," Rasmussen said.
The poll found that 58% of respondents believe that America needs more economic populism, including 32% who strongly agree, while 27% of respondents disagree, including 13% who strongly disagree about the need for economic populism. The other 15% are not sure.
The poll also found that 46% of respondents believe that the Democratic Party is the party of economic populism, compared to 26% who claimed that Republicans are the party of economic populism and 27% are not sure.
The Rasmussen study polled 1,139 likely U.S. voters from Oct. 20-22, with a three percent margin of error.
