President Trump's disapproval rating is at its highest since he took office, and 52% of voters say the U.S. is on the wrong track, according to a new poll released Friday.

An Emerson College Polling survey found that 45% of registered voters approved of the job Trump is doing as president, while 46% disapproved, and nearly 9% said they were neutral on the issue or had no opinion.

Trump's approval rating has kept dropping since he took office. In January, an Emerson College Polling survey found that Trump had a 49% approval rating and 41% disapproval. In April, both his approval and disapproval ratings were tied at 45%.

The most recent poll found that 52% of voters believe the U.S. is on the wrong track, compared to 48% saying that the U.S. is headed in the right direction.

For the 2026 midterm elections, the poll found that Democrats were slightly ahead of Republicans on a generic congressional ballot, with the former at nearly 43% and the latter at 40%. Undecided voters made up 18%.

“Looking ahead to next year’s Midterm Election, the Democrats have a slight edge over the Republicans, with independents breaking for the Democratic candidate 37% to 27%,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said in a statement on Friday. “However, a significant 36% of independents are undecided, so this number is expected to shift.”

The poll was conducted June 24-25 of 1,000 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 3%.
