Ford says recall of 200K vehicles is over rearview camera issue
Ford customers who are impacted by the error can get their software updated at a dealer free of charge.
Ford Motors recently disclosed that its recall of over 200,000 vehicles is because of issues related to its rearview camera, which could distract drivers or decrease a driver's view.
The company highlighted the issue in a report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration late last month, stating that in some cases the image from the camera stays on longer than it should, or a blank image comes up.
Ford customers who are impacted by the error can get their software updated at a dealer free of charge. Customers who are potentially impacted should also be getting a letter in the mail about the recall by July 28.
Some of the models that could be impacted by the recall, according to USA Today, include:
- 2018-2022 Ford Transit Connect
- 2019-2020 Lincoln MKZ, Ford Edge, Lincoln Continental, Ford F-150, Lincoln Nautilus, Fusion
- 2019-2023 Ford Ranger, Ford Mustang
- 2020-2021 Ford EcoSport, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator
- 2020-2022 Ford Escape, Ford F-250 SD, Lincoln Corsair
- 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, Ford Transit
- 2020-2024 Ford Explorer
- 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport
- 2022-2024 Ford Maverick
