The board that oversees Dulles International Airport in Virginia, which serves the D.C. area, approved $15.5 billion to help fund a massive renovation plan Trump first unveiled last month.

The proposal includes $3.75 billion for new underground tunnels to replace the airport's shuttles that transport people across the tarmac, the Washington Post reported

Trump announced the plan to remake the airport last month, which comes with an estimated price tag of $20 billion and includes new terminals. The proposal is part of Trump's larger beautification of the D.C. area, which includes a triumphant arch, reflecting pool renovation, and White House ballroom.

The airport renovation would largely be funded by municipal bonds, and Jack Potter, the airport authority's CEO, said it wouldn't require federal funds.
