Trump confirms he and Melania will attend Pope's funeral

President Donald Trump on Monday confirmed that he would attend the funeral of Pope Francis after he passed away early Monday morning of a cerebral stroke.

"Melania and I will be going to the funeral of Pope Francis, in Rome. We look forward to being there!" Trump posted on Truth Social.

The president and the Pope maintained a cordial, but often tumultuous relationship, largely due to the Pope's opposition to Trump's immigration policies.

First lady Melania Trump is a Roman Catholic, though Trump himself is not.
