President Donald Trump on Thursday confirmed he would withdraw the nomination of Ed Martin to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

“We have somebody else that will be great,” he told reporters.

Trump's confirmation followed Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., stating this week that he would not support Martin's nomination due to differences of opinion on Jan. 6 prosecutions.

"Most of my concerns related to January 6th," Tillis said. "I've indicated to the White House I wouldn't support his nomination."

Martin faced a May 20 confirmation deadline.
