President Donald Trump on Friday indicated that European nations were of no help in ongoing attempts to resolve the Israel-Iran conflict and denuclearize the Islamic Republic.

"They didn't help. No. Iran doesn't want to speak to Europe. They want to speak to us. Europe is not gonna be able to help in this one," Trump told reporters on the tarmac in Morristown, N.J.

Several European nations were signatories to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), otherwise known as the Iran nuclear deal, which Trump rejected during his first term.

Attempts by some European leaders to insert themselves into the dialogue, even by merely speaking to the press, have been met with rebuke from Trump. French President Emmanuel Macron, for instance, told reporters this week that Trump had left the G7 summit early to negotiate a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Trump publicly chided him on the matter.

"Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a 'cease fire' between Israel and Iran. Wrong!" Trump posted on Truth Social. "He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!"
