The U.S.S. George Washington reached the Middle East this week to relieve the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, another aircraft carrier who's long deployment has led to reports of poor conditions.

"U.S. Sailors work on the flight deck of USS George Washington (CVN 73), Aug. 20, as the aircraft carrier transits the Arabian Sea," U.S. Central Command confirmed on Thursday. "The George Washington Carrier Strike Group is operating in Middle East during a scheduled deployment after arriving in the CENTCOM theater yesterday."

The carrier was previously stationed in the Pacific. Its arrival frees the Lincoln to return to port after more than 260 days. Prior to the end of its deployment, reports emerged of deteriorating morale, poor food, and worsening conditions aboard the vessel.

Earlier in the conflict, the U.S.S. Gerald Ford was forced to return to port to deal with a major plumbing disaster that affected the living quarters of crewmen.
