Voters hate Qatari offer of Boeing jet to Trump: Poll
The issue appears to be one of significance for the public, as 51% said they were following the story at least "somewhat" closely.
The Qatari government's offer of a $400 million Boeing jet to President Donald Trump has the American public looking sideways, a recent poll has shown.
The jet would become part of Trump's presidential library after his term and would serve as a replacement for the 40-year-old Air Force One while he remains in office.
A clear plurality of 50% of registered voters in the latest Napolitan News Survey said that Trump should not accept the jet, while just 35% believed he should. A further 16% were unsure.
Trump has defended accepting the plane as a way to save money for the taxpayer.
"So the fact that the Defense Department is getting a GIFT, FREE OF CHARGE, of a 747 aircraft to replace the 40 year old Air Force One, temporarily, in a very public and transparent transaction, so bothers the Crooked Democrats that they insist we pay, TOP DOLLAR, for the plane. Anybody can do that! The Dems are World Class Losers!!!" he posted on Truth Social.
Conducted May 19-20, the survey questioned 1,000 registered voters.
