Florida officials sink decommissioned ship off coast to create artificial reef
The Okaloosa Coastal Resource Team intentionally sunk a 105-foot ship off the coast of Destin, Florida Tuesday in an effort to build an artificial reef. The RMS Cyclops, a decommissioned offshore supply vessel, was deployed four nautical miles offshore and 72 feet deep. Local officials say the sunken ship will provide a structure for marine wildlife and enhance local diving and fishing industries.
