Senate Judiciary Committee to vote on bill enacting new ethics code for SCOTUS
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) announced in a joint statement Monday that the Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on legislation to create a new code of ethics for the Supreme Court on July 20. The Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act will force the court to adopt a code of conduct, establish new rules for the disclosure of gifts, and allow the public to submit ethics complaints. If passed, the legislation will move to the Senate floor.
