South Korean president to lift martial law after lawmakers vote it down

Yoon declared martial law amid struggles with the opposition-controlled legislature, vowing to eliminate "anti-state" forces and North Korean sympathizers.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Tuesday announced that he would lift martial law following a vote from lawmakers to end military control.

Yoon declared martial law amid struggles with the opposition-controlled legislature, vowing to eliminate "anti-state" forces and North Korean sympathizers. 

Lawmakers overwhelmingly rejected the move and Yoon has indicated he will comply with the vote, CNN reported.
