State Department says 80 Americans are still unaccounted for in Nepal flood

The State Department said Monday that 80 Americans are still unaccounted for in Nepal's flooding last week, but that 13 Americans have "made their way to safety." 

Last week's flooding has resulted in 903 bodies recovered so far and more than 4,200 people still unaccounted for, according to a spokesperson for Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.

A Tennessee-based nonprofit told Fox News over the weekend that 22 of the Americans who remain missing were part of a pilgrimage, and they were inside an immigration building when the flooding struck the area. 

Of the thousands of people still missing, at least 500 are believed to be trapped in tunnels at hydropower sites buried in mud. One expert told the Associated Press that the tunnels offer enough space for people to take refuge and some could have access to oxygen. But other experts said the chances of finding survivors are falling.
