US and China to begin formal trade talks during Bessent trip to Switzerland

The United States and China are expected to start formal trade talks later this week when Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is in Switzerland on Thursday, officials told Financial Times.

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer is also expected to meet with Chinese trade officials in Switzerland, the outlet reported.
“I look forward to productive talks as we work towards rebalancing the international economic system towards better serving the interests of the United States,” Bessent said in a statement.
