Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese projected to win re-election
Albanese's Labor Party is projected to have won the majority in the federal elections
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is the projected winner in the federal election, Australian media reported on Saturday.
Albanese has now become the first Australian Prime Minister to win re-election in 20 years, going back to John Howard in 2004.
Results are still being counted but media outlets, including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Reuters, reported that Albanese's centre-left Labor Party have won the majority.
Albanese delivered a victory speech at his party’s election headquarters on Saturday.
