Dozens of New Year's revelers were killed and approximately 100 injured early Thursday morning when a fire raged through a bar in a popular ski resort in the Swiss Alps.

Authorities in Switzerland said they did not suspect terrorism but the cause of the fire at the  Le Constellation bar at the Crans-Montana resort was still being investigated.

"Several tens of people” were killed at the bar but "it is premature to give you a more precise figure,” Valais Canton police commander Frédéric Gisler told a news conference.

Beatrice Pilloud, Valais Canton attorney general, said it was too early to determine the cause of the fire but a terror attack was not suspected.

“At no moment is there a question of any kind of attack,” Pilloud said, according to The Associated Press.
