Gold medal-winning USA hockey team honors player Johnny Gaudreau who was tragically killed in 2024

The team held up Gaudreau's team USA jersey and brought his children on the ice for a group photo after winning their first gold medal in 46 years

The gold medal-winning USA hockey team on Sunday honored player Johnny Gaudreau, who was tragically killed in 2024.

USA defeated Canada 2-1 in overtime on the final day of the Winter Olympic Games in Milan, Italy.

USA won its first gold medal since 1980.

Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were killed by a drunk driver while cycling in August 2024 ahead of their sister's wedding. They were both set to be groomsmen in the ceremony. 

The tragedy occurred in Oldmans Township, New Jersey.

The team held up Gaudreau's team USA jersey and brought two of his children on the ice for a group photo.

Gaudreau helped USA win the bronze medal in 2018.
