Labour support drops to new low after scandals involving two government officials
A new poll shows that the party has dropped to its lowest level of public support since coming to power in July 2024.
The Labour Party is struggling to contain the fallout from two controversies involving senior figures, which could be taking a toll on the public support for its agenda.
A new poll shows that the party has fallen to its lowest level of public support since coming to power in July 2024.
The poll, which was conducted by Find Out Now on September 17 and 18 among 4,795 adults, revealed that support for Labour dropped three-points from the previous week to 16%.
The poll results come after Angela Rayner, who held three senior roles under Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, resigned on Sept. 5 after a Telegraph investigation of her personal tax issues. Rayner was deputy prime minister, deputy Labour leader, and housing secretary.
Lord Mandelson was fired from his position as UK ambassador to the United States soon after Rayner resigned. His removal occurred following the release of emails related to his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
