Russian drone and missile attack on Kyiv, Ukraine, kills at least 20 civilians

Russian launched an 11-hour drone and missile attack that lasted through Thursday morning, killing at least 20 civilians and injuring many more. 

Moscow said the attack was in retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil infrastructure last week, the Associated Press reported. 

More than 50,000 residents of Kyiv took shelter in subway stations after air raid warnings went out, according to Kyiv Metro. 

Emergency crews searching for victims were digging through the rubble of destroyed buildings and burned apartments on Thursday morning.
