Police announced Sunday they have arrested two men in connection with a mass stabbing aboard a British train that left 10 wounded, but authorities are not treating the attack as a terrorist incident.

“At this stage, there is nothing to suggest that this is a terrorist incident,” British Transport Police Superintendent John Loveless said in a statement to news outlets.

Loveless said two men were arrested within minutes of the attack Saturday evening: a 32-year-old black British national and a 35-year-old British national of Caribbean descent. Both men were born in Great Britain, he said.

Transit police initially said nine of the 10 victims suffered life-threatening injuries during the attack on the London-bound train. On Sunday, police said only two remained with life threatening injuries and some had been released from hospitals.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said his “thoughts are with all those affected” after the “appalling incident.”
