Top BBC executives have resigned, according to reports on Sunday.

BBC's director general, Tim Davie, and the chief executive of news, Deborah Turness, have left their positions.

"This is entirely my decision, and I remain very thankful to the Chair and Board for their unswerving and unanimous support throughout my entire tenure, including during recent days," Davie said in a statement.

The BBC has been criticized over alleged bias, including the editing of a speech on Jan. 6, 2021 by President Donald Trump.

The outlet is expected to issue a formal apology for the edit.
