Ultimate Fighting Championship star Conor McGregor has officially announced his bid for president of Ireland.

In a long social media post Thursday on X, McGregor said that his main focus would be to tackle the amount of migrants coming into Ireland.

He said he would oppose the new European Union migration pact that has a goal to share the burden of processing asylum claims evenly across the bloc, according to CNN.

“Who else will stand up to Government and oppose this bill?” he wrote on X. "Any other Presidential candidate they attempt to put forward will be of no resistance to them. I will!"

McGregor made headlines in 2023 for speaking out against the current Irish government, specifically over the significant surge in immigrants entering the country.

He has also been in the news for being found liable in a sexual assault lawsuit in Dublin last year. He announced in February he was appealing the verdict.

"God bless our people!" his post concluded. "Vote McGregor and have your voice heard!"
