France sends in its only aircraft carrier to help with reopening of Strait of Hormuz

France is taking action as the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz continues, which is strangling the global economy and becoming increasingly severe.

The administration of French President Emmanuel Macron announced Wednesday the country's only aircraft carrier is transiting the Suez Canal en route to the southern Red Sea. 

France is taking action amid the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz that is strangling the global economy and becoming increasingly severe, France24 reported

"The risk of prolonged hostilities is too serious for us to accept," an aide to Macron said. 

France's defense ministry said that the carrier strike group is separate from other military operations happening in the region, and the strike group complements other security measures.
