Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian threatened to intensify attacks on American targets across the Middle East, declaring that Iran “will not bow” to pressure from the United States and Israel.

His remarks appeared to walk back conciliatory comments he made Saturday toward Gulf neighbors. In those earlier comments, he apologized for strikes on their territory, but Iranian hardliners quickly contradicted the statement.

U.S. intelligence officials believe Russia has provided Iran with information that could help target U.S. troops and assets in the Middle East, according to the Associated Press.

Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, said in a Sunday interview that “military cooperation between Iran and Russia is not something new.”
