Iran warns ships crossing Strait of Hormuz without authorization 'will be dealt with'

The Iranian military on Thursday warned that ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz require their authorization. Those that don't comply, it said, "will be dealt with." 

The Revolutionary Guards, the ideological arm of Iran's military, said that crossing the strait without authorization is "unacceptable and extremely dangerous," CBS News reported. 

The management of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway vital to global trade out of the Persian Gulf, has been an ongoing issue in negotiations between the U.S. and Iran. 

Tehran has said it plans to charge vessels crossing the strait maritime service fees, though President Donald Trump said Iran has told the U.S. there would be no tolls charged.
