Israeli airstrikes on Iran that targeted nuclear and military sites reportedly killed three top military officials, according to Israel Defense Forces.

The attacks killed Iran Gen. Hossein Salami, the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps; Maj. Gen. Gholamali Rashid, the commander of Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters; and the chief of staff of Iran's armed forces, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, the BBC reported.

The BCC report follows the IDF saying the leaders were killed in attacks by more than 200 fighter jets.

"These are three ruthless mass murderers with international blood on their hands," the IDF posted on X on Friday. "The world is a better place without them."

Top Iranian nuclear scientists were also killed in the attack, according to Punchbowl News. Iran has responded by launching more than 100 drones against Israel, with additional counterstrikes expected.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement Friday morning, “This operation will continue for as many days as it takes to remove this threat.”
