Israeli ambassador to US says son is fighting for his life after car-ramming incident in West Bank

Israeli ambassador to the United States Yechiel Leiter shared Wednesday that his son was seriously injured in a car ramming incident in the West Bank this week while serving as a reservist with the Israeli Defense Force.

The IDF confirmed that a reservist was "severely injured" during a ramming attack at a checkpoint in the Benyamin Regional Brigade, but did not identify the individual. He is being treated at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.

"I am grateful to the IDF, to the medical team at Shaare Zedek who are now fighting to save the life of Neria Dov ben Chana, and for the prayers of the people of Israel," Leiter said in a post on X. I believe in the power of prayer, and I believe that when the people of Israel unite, miracles happen. Neria needs a miracle.

"Neria continued to serve in the reserves after losing his older brother, Moshe Yedidya Leiter, of blessed memory," the ambassador continued. "Since October 7th, he has served hundreds of days in the reserves on multiple fronts. Palestinian terrorism seeks to uproot the people of Israel from their land. They choose death - we choose life."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the incident, stating that he was praying for Neria Leiter.

"My wife Sarah and I, together with all the people of Israel, are praying for a miracle," he said on X. "Yechiel, my dear, we are all with you."
