Israeli military destroys 400 tunnels used by Hamas for guerilla war tactics against Israel
The Israel Defense Forces published a video last week of what it said was a tunnel shaft that runs 30 feet deep under the Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
The Israeli military said on Wednesday it has destroyed approximately 400 tunnels, which were part of significant underground infrastructure used by Hamas.
The actions took place prior to the temporary ceasefire negotiated last week as part of an exchange for hostages, which began Friday.
Hamas has constructed hundreds of miles of tunnels under densely populated areas of Gaza, according to the Washington Examiner, which are used for guerilla war tactics against Israeli forces.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) published a video last week of what it said was a tunnel shaft that runs 30 feet deep under the Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. The shaft extends for 180 feet. The IDF said on Tuesday they had breached a blast door found at the end of the tunnel.
