Mojtaba Khamenei named new supreme leader of Iran

He was regarded as the possible next supreme leader before the Israeli strike caused the death of his father at the start of conflict.

Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the country’s late supreme leader, has been named the successor, Iranian state TV announced Sunday.

He was regarded as the possible next supreme leader before the Israeli strike caused the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, at the start of current conflict. 

Iran state television confirmed the news.
