Netanyahu says Israel is expanding its military operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Sunday that Israel is expanding its invasion of southern Lebanon.

Netanyahu said Israel will widen the “existing security strip” in Lebanon, according to the Associated Press.

Israel is targeting the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militant group.

“We are determined to fundamentally change the situation in the north,” he said. “Hezbollah still has residual capability to fire rockets at us.”

More than 1,100 people have been killed during the Iran war, AP reported.
