Netanyahu's office acknowledges having not passed along warning hours before Oct. 7 attack

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office says the premier's intelligence officer failed to pass along an Israel Defense Forces memo warning of suspicious activity from Hamas just three hours before the Oct. 7, 2023  attack.

The premier's office defended itself Saturday by saying the document was framed in a non-urgent way, which is why it didn't pass it on, according to The Times of Israel outlet. 

The document reportedly sent it to Netanyahu and then-Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

Gallant's office reportedly could not get in contact with his intelligence officer who did not get the document.

Six intelligence officers got the memo, but Netanyahu's officer did not pass it up the chain of command. 

As of now the IDF has not investigated why the information was not passed on. 

On  Oct. 7, 2023, the Palestinian-backed Hamas, conducted a surprise attack on Israel and killed 1,200 people, resulting in a war in which right now two sides have a ceasefire deal where hostages and prisoners from both sides are being released.
