Trump describes rescued airman as 'seriously wounded'
In a social media post, Trump gave more details on the airman rescued Saturday evening.
President Donald Trump Sunday described the colonel rescued Saturday evening in a mission coordinated between the U.S. military and the CIA as being "seriously wounded."
In the post on Trump's Truth Social platform, the president went on to say that the "really brave" F-15 crew member was rescued deep inside a mountain range in Iran. The operation, he explained, was rarely attempted because of the risk involved to men and equipment.
"The second raid came after the first one, where we rescued the pilot in broad daylight, also unusual, spending seven hours over Iran. An AMAZING show of bravery and talent by all!"
Trump will hold a press conference on Monday in the Oval Office.
