Two prominent national security advisors warn about Iran getting closer to having a nuclear weapon
"Everybody's looking at the production of uranium," Dr. Phares said. "Guess what? They may get it."
Two prominent U.S. national security advisors – Victoria Coates and Dr. Walid Phares – warn that Iran is growing closer and closer to getting a nuclear weapon.
"This is probably our top notch immediate concern right now," Coates said on the Tuesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show.
She explained that during the Trump administration, Iran decided not to test a nuclear weapon due to the fear of repercussions.
"What they've done for almost three years is increase their enrichment," Coates said. "They're now up to 60%. Everyone talks about how 90% is weapons grade. Well, that's ideal weapons grade. You can make a weapon at 60%. It's just not going to be your most perfect nuclear weapon. But it's certainly enough to be a big problem for the United States and our allies."
Phares, meanwhile, complimented former President Donald Trump for pulling out of the Iran deal during his administration because he said it caused Iran to go silent for a while.
"The Biden administration will negotiate [by saying] 'we're going to give you money, but stop developing,'" Phares said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast. "That is something that is really strategically dangerous for us. So they are using that increase in the production of uranium to get billions and billions of dollars, and quickly. What are they doing with that money?"
He added that with that Iran has been getting enough money from the U.S. to get a tactical nuke.
"Everybody's looking at the production of uranium. Guess what?" Dr. Phares said. "They may get it."
