U.S. forces strike three Iranian oil tankers after IRGC missile attack on U.S. warships

U.S. Central Command forces struck three Iranian crude oil tankers on Sept. 5 after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched ballistic missiles toward two U.S. Navy warships operating in regional waters.

According to CENTCOM, a U.S. aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple Iranian attacks. No American personnel were injured.

CENTCOM said U.S. forces subsequently disabled two IRGC-linked crude oil carriers—the M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island and the M/T Stark 1 near Jask.

American forces also destroyed the unladen crude oil carrier M/T Kylo, also known as the “Noxen,” in the Gulf of Oman. The vessel was struck in multiple critical areas after its crew was ordered to abandon ship, according to CENTCOM.
