U.S. may lift some sanctions on Iran if Tehran agrees to U.S. demands on its nuclear program: Vance

Vice President JD Vance said that the U.S. will consider lifting some sanctions against Iran, but only if Tehran agrees to a long-term commitment to abandoning its nuclear weapons program. 

“We’re willing to give significant sanctions relief if the Iranians make the kind of long-term commitments that are necessary to be a normal country to give up their nuclear weapons program to stop funding terrorist activities all over the Middle East," Vance said on ABC News' "Good Morning America."

Vance also said that parties had signed the peace deal digitally, but a formal signing ceremony would be held on Friday. 

When asked about President Donald Trump's demand that Iran sign an "unconditional surrender," Vance said that the deal being signed on Friday opens up the Strait of Hormuz.
