At least 75 reportedly killed in US airstrike on Yemen oil port controlled by Houthi rebels

U.S. air strikes Thursday on a Yemen oil terminal controlled by Houthi rebels killed at least 78 people and wounded 126 others, according to Houthi-run media.

The terminal is on Yemen's Red Sea coast and was hit by 14 airstrikes, according to Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV.

“U.S. forces took action to eliminate this source of fuel for the Iran-backed Houthi terrorists and deprive them of illegal revenue that has funded Houthi efforts to terrorize the entire region for over 10 years," U.S. Central Command said in a statement.

Iran-backed Houthi rebels say the terminal is a civilian facility, according to BBC.com.

President Donald Trump last month ordered U.S. forces to intensify their bombing campaign in response to Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping amid the Israel-Hamas war, the BBC also reports.
