Vance holds off on diplomatic travel after Iran fails to respond to terms

Vice President JD Vance has put off travel to Islamabad after Iran failed to respond to negotiating positions put forth by the U.S.

Vance was to depart Tuesday morning for Pakistan, where negotiations were to continue on Wednesday, when the two-week ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran was to expire. 

With no official response coming from Tehran, the diplomatic process is paused, The New York Times reported, citing unnamed sources. 

While paused, the trip hasn't been canceled. Iran has yet to announce a decision on whether it will participate in the scheduled talks, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, said on Tuesday.
