Myanmar's earthquake death toll surpasses 1,000

Myanmar's earthquake death toll surpassed 1,000 on Saturday.

The country’s second largest city was hit with a 7.7 magnitude earthquake on Friday.

Rescuers are in the process of going through the debris to search for survivors.  

The government said 1,002 people have been found dead so far and 2,376 have been injured, while 30 others have gone missing.

"Detailed figures are still being collected," said the statement.
